Professional Responsibilities
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate health and social care goals with minimal supervision.
2. Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in the patient’s condition and safety.
3. Recognise the potential of a patient’s self-care ability.
4. Effectively plan for patient discharge with minimum supervision ensuring that associated documentation is completed in a timely manner.
5. Ability to administer oral drugs safely and independently and that they are administered in line with the NMC and Trust policy guidelines.
6. Ability to administer intravenous drugs and undertake venepuncture and cannulation once assessed competent to do so in line with the NMC and Trust policy guidelines.
7. Demonstrate an understanding of evidence based practice in nursing.
8. Ensure that infection prevention and effective infection control practices are central to all clinical work.
Communication and Teamwork
1. To communicate effectively with the patients, relatives, nursing and multi-disciplinary team and pass on relevant information accurately.
2. Provide relevant and accurate information to patients and enable patients to make informed decisions.
3. Participate and act as the patient advocate within ward rounds and participate in team discussions.
4. Ability to provide accurate written accounts of care and essential facts under minimal supervision.
5. Ensure that written documentation is maintained in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for Records and Record Keeping and Trust policy.
6. To ensure that your behaviour is consistent with the Trust’s values and standards of conduct and behaviour and that patients, relatives & colleagues are dealt with professionally & courteously at all times.
